2012 Franciscan Federation Honoree

What a joy and a privilege it is to announce Sister Joyce Shanabarger as our 2012 Franciscan Federation Honoree.   She is truly a woman who exemplifies by her life the criteria “Releasing Energies to Love: Creative Fidelity in the Church.” 

Sister Joyce …

                • is incredibly creative and brings that dimension alive in her work;
                • draws from the depth of her own theological training and personal prayer and reflection;
                • nurtures ecclesial community with activities that are grounded in love;
                • is a positive, energizing presence;
                • is knowledgeable and articulate about the reality of today’s issues;
                • is able to give hope to the doubtful and discouraged, especially in her volunteer ministry to the women in shelters who are struggling to break free from addictions;
                • embodies Francis’ and Clare’s witness to creative fidelity.
