Serving in Appalachia
Two of our Sisters are the voice and hands of Christ, ministering among the desperate poor in Appalachia (Kermit, West Virginia).
Sr. Therese Carew is the Director of Christian Help which provides a food pantry, free clothing, financial assistance for gas, electricity, etc. and transportation to doctor’s appointments, shopping, etc. The available resources, however, are extremely insufficient to provide for all of those in need.
Sr. Patricia Ann Murray is the Director of ABLE Families which focuses on long term improvement through after-school programs, enrichment summer camps, cooking and nutrition classes, preparation for a GED certificate, computer training, child care education for mothers of newborns to 3 year olds, etc.
The little that these people had was even taken from them by a devastating tornado in 2012. Having no tornado insurance, they are now struggling to rebuild their lives. If you would also like to be the hands of Christ, offering much needed help for these less fortunate ones, it would be most appreciated. Please make your check payable to:
